Type: Workshop

Abstract

As part of our stand/village at hack.lu 2026, syn2cat would like to offer the opportunity for participants to learn how to do soldering (or sharpen their skills)
First timers as well as experienced participants are welcome!
This is mainly hands-on preceded with safety measures and short introduction to soldering techniques.

Description

We will setup 8-10 soldering iron stations.
Participants will learn how to solder by doing.
No prebooking needed! Just show-up and start hacking!

This will only focus on Through Hole Technology (THT) (aka Traditional Soldering/PCB assembly) and NOT Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) (aka SMD Soldering/PCB assembly).

Participants can assemble simple improvised circuits on the spot, bring their own kits or choose some on site (for a small donation covering the cost of the kit).

Some theoretical concepts will be shared at the beginning of the session, but participants are expected to mainly learn by doing! There is no right or wrong except when it comes to safety measures.

On our stand we will also showcase other hackerspace activities and participants could learn how they function.
